Hatfield House

35 miles | 1 hour from London

One of my personal favourites. The “house” where young Princess Elizabeth learned (in 1558) that her half-sister “Bloody” Mary had died, making her the new monarch – Queen Elizabeth (1st). Beautiful house built during her reign by the Cecils – one of the most influential families of the late 1500s and early 1600s.
